This week in Big Sky, MT, south of Bozeman and north of Yellowstone NP, we participated in the 5th International Driving Symposium on Human Factors in Driver Assessment, Training, and Vehicle Design. The event was attended by around 200 people from around 15 countries. It was administered admirably by The University of Iowa. the Big Sky Resort was an amazing location; the staff was exceptional.

I am amazed at the caliber of research scientists that come together for this bi-annual event. They come to present their research, share ideas, learn from one another. This is done in formal presentations, less-formal poster sessions and at social events.

We were there showing and discussing our new DS-250 research simulator / CDS clinical simulator. We had great discussions with dozens of people from dozens of multinational businesses, government agencies, major universities and other companies selling products for the driving research space.

I learned an amazing amount from the attendees, consuming much more than contributing.

I, along with my colleague, Doug Evans, want to thank all those whom we had the opportunity to talk with and interact, both new and old friends as well as colleagues, competitors and customers.

This was the third event for me (Maine in 2005 and Washington in 2007).  We will do it again in 2011.
